Q.  Which Hall of Famer set the major league record for a consecutive-games hitting streak, only to see it smashed the following season? 

Hint: #1  He hit more career triples than any other BBTR Hall of Famer.

Hint: #2  He once led the majors with 135 RBI in only 131 games.

Hint: #3  He was institutionalized for the last half of his life.

A.  GEORGE DAVIS  [SABR Bio]

-  Ans.  Davis’ 33 G streak in 1893 for NYG was said to be aided by the new pitching distance of 60’6” that year, but didn’t everyone else have that same “advantage”?  CHC’s Bill Dahlen had one of 42 G the very next year.
