- HR X 4 = 6th inning, 31-Jul-1963.  W/2 out, #8 hitter Held hit a bomb to left field.  He was followed by pitcher Pedro Ramos, who hit his 2nd of the game (had only 3 all year).  The parade continued with leadoff hitter Tito Francona.  Finally… SS Larry Brown, just cleared the left field fence w/the 1st HR of his career.  This was the 2nd such occurrence in MLB history and the 1st in the AL.  Angels’ pitcher Paul Foytack could only laugh. “What else is there to do but laugh?” he said.  “I was glad to get out of there alive.  It’s the first time I ever was cheered by the fans after leaving the mound on being knocked out.”
- After striking out in a 1959 game, Held threw his helmet in the dugout.  It bounced and struck manager Joe Gordon in the leg.  Gordon chastised Held who responded by cursing.  It cost Held $200 and a public apology.  Both reconciled soon thereafter.
