Q.  Who was the last player on the Giants to lead the National League in hitting before Barry Bonds did it in 2002?

Hint: #1  He (not Bonds) is one of the rare players who, at various times in his career, led the majors in each of the following categories at least once:  hits, triples, home runs, stolen bases, slugging, OPS+ and TB.

Hint: #2  He was the first player in the Modern Era to steal home twice in a single game.

-  Ans.  Wagner hit .381 in 1900; .355 in 1903 & .334 in 1911, playing for PIT.  He won 5 additional times.  [At Horsehide Trivia, we define a decade as suits us at the moment. ]

-  #1  Wager was in the very 1st class of players elected to the Hall.  Fellow inductee, Pennsylvania native Christy Mathewson was also elected to the Hall’s as a member of its hallowed first class, Wagner did get more votes than Matty 215 to 205.  Chronologically, perhaps not ahead of Mathewson, but just as Cobb got more votes than Ruth on the same ballot & is frequently viewed as the 1st in the Hall, for purposes of this question, we are going to equate ballot count with order of Hall acceptance.

-  #2  On 20-Jun-1901, Wager stole home.  An additional 10 players have joined him since then, the most recent being Vic Power in 1958.
