-  #1  Pirates part-owner Bing Crosby, knowing that Kiner was both a Southern Californian and a highly-paid, highly-eligible bachelor, set him up to squire a teenage Elizabeth Taylor to the 1949 premiere of the movie Twelve O’Clock High.  It was their only date.
